Meditation: The Lord our God is One.

Sep 8, 2025    Pastor Joe Walters

Discover the beauty of the Triune God and the unity of His saving love. Too often, the Trinity is spoken of as a mystery or explained with analogies that fall short of Scripture. But when we turn to God’s Word and the wisdom of the church, we see that the Trinity is not a riddle to solve—it is the heart of the gospel.

In this video, we reflect on what it means that God is one in essence and three in persons: simple, indivisible, and never divided. Salvation itself is communion with the Father, through the Son, in the Holy Spirit.

Drawing from Mark 12:29–30 and the Shema of Deuteronomy 6, we meditate on six comforting truths about God’s oneness:

He does not change—His love and promises stand (James 1:17).

His purposes are sure—His will cannot fail (Ephesians 1:9–11).

There is one way of salvation for all—faith in Christ (Romans 3:29–30).

No rivals, no fear—He alone is God (Isaiah 45:5–7).

Providence is coherent—His wise will governs all things (Romans 8:28).

His attributes never conflict—justice and mercy meet at the cross (Psalm 85:10; Romans 3:26).

Anchor your heart in the confession of 1 Corinthians 8:6: “Yet for us there is one God, the Father… and one Lord, Jesus Christ…” May this meditation lead you to adore the Triune God, rest in His unchanging love, and walk faithfully in communion with Him.
